Anne Smith is the Dean of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and her doctorate degree in Communication Arts at the same academic institution. Before returning to her alma mater, Smith spent 18 years teaching in both the University of Southern California and New York University. She is the author of several books on communication: Words and Society: the Link between Language and Culture, and History of Communication. In addition to writing scholarly publication, she enjoys taking photos and writing creatively as a hobby.
